There are several types of group names in Romani. A number of groups
simply refer to themselves as rom, or use other specific ethnic designations such as romanicel, kale, manuš, sinte. This is the conservative pattern, and the one more widespread in western and northern Europe. In the Balkans and central-eastern Europe, group designations may be based on traditional trades, the actual terms being borrowed mainly from Turkish, Romanian, or Hungarian: bugurdzi ‘drill-makers’ (Turkish burgucu), sepeči ‘basket-weavers’ (Turkish sepetci), kelderara/kelderaša ‘kettle-maker’ (Romanian čaldarar), čurari ‘sieve-maker’ (Romanian ciurar), lovari ‘horsedealer’ (Hungarian lo-v- with a Romanian-derived agentive suffix), ursari ‘bearleader’ (Romanian), and many more.

Borrowed grammar, specifically borrowed morphology in Romani, then, can satisfy any one of three criteria: (a) it can be adopted as a regular structure and become diffused ‘backwards’ into the inherited component; (b) it can be adopted and used productively, its diffusion stretching ‘forwards’ to all subsequently acquired lexicon, but not ‘backwards’; or (c) it can remain restricted to a particular layer or inventory of elements, which in turn can constitute either a closed class (as in the case of Turkish loan verbs in Vlax dialects in Greece that have lost contact with Turkish), or an open class (as in the case of Russian and Turkish in dialects that are still in contact with these languages).

The Roma are not one people, so we find big differences among them. However, everywhere the schools and other institutions complain about parents who prefer not to send their children to school. A rough estimate is that almost half of the children between six and eighteen go to school, with increasing absenteeism as they grow older.
Romanes verzija:
The Roma are not one people, so we find big differences among them. However, everywhere the non-Roma schools and other non-Roma institutions complain about parents who prefer not to send their children to non-Roma school, as would French parents were they to send their children to a German school. A rough estimate is that almost half of the children between six and eighteen go to non-Roma school, with increasing absenteeism as they grow older.
